THE KITCHEN
I AM DAN BURNS. yes one of over 300 dan burns’ on facebook and just one of the 63,450 hits that you find on google and yes there is even a dan burns at my culinary school…no kidding. Henceforth, I needed to declare that no, I AM DAN BURNS. So that is the name of my blog and website.
Where to begin? Well basically, I love food, music, fashion, furniture, interiors, architecture, art and people. I love to travel, I love to be at home I love being with lots of people and I love being alone, at times. I love the Cure, Depeche Mode, Bauhaus, and yes I love Madonna!! I know just like everybody else, however what makes me unique is that I am all that and i gots the credentials to back it up….. I have three degrees, one in Interior Design from the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, a degree in Architecture from Pratt Institute in Manhattan, and most recently i completed my culinary training at Le Cordon Bleu in Los Angeles. Along with my degrees I have over 15 years of experience in design, cooking, and being an entrepreneur. Yes, you could say, and i say, that I AM DAN BURNS, the modern, chic and cool Martha Stewart. However I am on a mission.
For those of you who know me, know that i am always on a mission and the mission is this: to create a world where people can be self-expressed, regardless of how they look or appear to others. My intention is to have each one of us “RETHINK OUR THOUGHTS” and to express ourselves through Art. My mediums are food, fabric, and construction. With these tools I have a vision that i want make real!
The vision is this, through my new venture I will cause and empower the next generation of innovators, creators, and visionaries. I call us the Affluent Deviants. We live and have always lived outside the box. We deviate from the norm. We are artist. We have a voice. And we are the ones to make the future REAL.
I am the leader in creating a brand that is the platform, the forum to give voice to the next generation. I have had much success in the past 15 years and now, I am out to inspire and create a platform for this generation and work as their mentor to fulfill on their dreams, ideas, and visions. I am Yes.
What is amazing about us is that though we may not look like the norm we are extraordinary people, we are parents, we are partners, we are people that make a difference on this planet. I am Courage.
The vehicle to giving voice to this vision is through web-media and television. For me, my palette as an artist is food, fabric, and foundation. My canvas is the dinner party. Throughout history the dinner has played a major part in religion, politics, celebrations and now it is the format to discuss what is possible moving forward. Think Conan O’Brien meets Martha Stewart. I am Self-expression.
I love the home, especially the kitchen, dining room and the living room. The tv show will center around the home. My home will bring together everything I love- food, music, family, friends, design and most of all conversation for what is possible. My home is modern, chic and cool. I am Home.
